Antonio Possenti (1933-2016) was a self-taught painter, whose first experiences were in the field of drawing and illustration, with a literary and artistic culture ranging from Greek- Roman to the modern and contemporary. Through time Possenti has defined a poetic world and an original style that captured the interest of art critics since the beginning. He travelled a lot, meeting different people and cultures, but he always returned to Lucca and to his atelier in Piazza Anfiteatro, in the heart of the city. Throughout his long artistic career Possenti’s works have been exhibited in important public and private venues around the world.
